As the offical world governing body for rafting sport, the International Rafting Federation (IRF) proudly invites you to the 2025 IRF World Rafting Championship (WRC).  The WRC is the premiere rafting competition in the world featuring the best rafting teams on the planet coming together to compete on the world stage. As the chosen host for the 2025 WRC, Malaysia has been given an unparalleled opportunity to boost its global standing and invigorate its tourism sector by showcasing its rich culture, diverse gastronomy and unique heritage. Crucially, the WRC serves as a powerful catalyst for youth development in rafting sport.

The IRF World Rafting Championship 2025 is shaping up to be a monumental event, bringing the world’s best rafters to the stunning rivers of Malaysia. We are thrilled to announce that we anticipate participation from over 20 countries, uniting a truly global community of athletes.

 

With registrations open to our national federation members, we are targeting an exciting lineup of 75 teams ready to battle for the championship title. The event has a maximum capacity of 100 teams and we are already receiving dozens of team registrations from around the world. The Kampar River is one of Malaysia’s most popular rafting rivers and its local infrastructure is fully equipped to support the logistical and comfort needs of all attendees, showcasing the breathtaking beauty of Malaysia’s river landscapes.

Kampar River

The Kampar River flows through this area, providing exciting rapids ideal for whitewater rafting, attracting both beginners and experienced rafters.

Experience the Kampar River’s unique blend of natural flow and seasonal dynamism. Unlike major rivers, its flow is largely unaffected by large dams, relying instead on natural rainfall, particularly during the monsoon. This creates a thrilling and ever-changing environment for water sports. Well-designed access points with purpose-built ramps ensure easy entry and navigation for teams and officials. Paddlers will face the challenge of navigating natural waves and drop-offs, adding a strategic depth to the competition.

  • River Grade: Level 3 (3+)
  • River Type: Perennial Pool-Drop
  • River Temperature: 25°C – 27°C – By dressing in quick-dry, fitted, and protective gear, athletes can stay comfortable, mobile and safe on the Kampar River.
  • River Terrain: River left and right is natural jungle and offers easy access from the road for judges and safety. It is also easy to recycle the boats.
